This is true – oils are beneficial for hair in many ways. As you perhaps know, every cell on your body needs essential fatty acids to fire off cell reproduction. Hair cells for example (skin cells also) are one of the fastest reproducing cells. As most of shampoos are purely chemical products and they strip the hair and scalp of vital fatty acids, one ‘must’ replace them occasionally with fatty acids that are found in essential oils. This is the reason people are using aromatheraphy oils for hair.
Every oil offer different conditioning needs, for that reason person should choose oil that is appropriate for person’s hair type and conditioning needs. For example, if having fine and thin hair person should use light oils, like sesame or almond, while person with thick and coarse usually responds better to olive or coconut oil, which are heavier oils.
It depends how you use oils. Can put it on dry hair, massage in while shampooing, apply on dry hair, or make hot oil treatments. Usage really depends on hair type and needs. If having oily hair, then don’t apply oil on dry hair… if having split ends, use jojoba and apply mostly on ends… hot oil treatments can be messy and have to be careful not to burn, and you do not have to apply them more than once in one or two months.
In conclusion, there is a variety of different conditioning oils and also many methods. However, while jojoba oil is universal considering hair types, other oils aren’t. For that reason it is important to select oil that is healing for your hair type. |

| My brother puts oil on dry hair. He has dark brown hair- he uses walnut oil. it somehow emphasis his natural color and makes it nice and a bit shiny, but not too shiny. Friend also uses walnut oil from time to time- she has curly, brown hair, but her hair, and my brothers is quite dry, while mine on the other hand gets too greasy. i had few attempts with oils, but just didn't work out - I just don't need any additional oil on my hair. |
