I am thinking about breast enlargement, but I haven’t talked or found a plastic surgeon yet. I found some information on web, however, I would like to know something more about recovery time.
Should I rest after breast enlargement or may I return to work? When can I start with my normal, daily obligations? Are scars visible? For how long? What about stitches? When do they come out?
That’s all I can remember for now.
I greatly appreciate every response, and mostly those from personal experience! |

Hello!
My sister had breast enlargement, so let’ say I am talking from second hand experience…
About rest question. You should rest, because rest is important part of the healing process, so after the breast enlargement you should rest as much as possible, and should definitely stay out of work for at least 7-10 days. You should follow your doctor’s advice and take medications prescribed. For at least 5 days you should keep arm extension to a minimal, which means that elbows shouldn’t be raised higher than armpit. All this limitation of course has sense- this is all due the healing process- tissues will heal quicker if you avoid stretching of tissue, surrounding breast implants.
Of course, if your work involves physical work, you should not resume physical part for at least a month.
Other activities, like sport for example, should not be resumed for at least month or two- this depends on the soreness.
For first several weeks scars are pink colored, and then they begin to fade, and are hardly visible.
Stitches usually come out in the first 10 days.
I hope this helps for a start- I am sure your doctor will explain everything in more detailed version.
Take care,
Gia |

I'm not an expert on the topic either. Just browsing through. But just in case you need more info on breast augmentation, I happen to read A Beginner's Guide to Breast Augmentation. body-philosophy.net/Beginners_Guide_to_Breast_Augmentation
It might just give you a bit more insight. |

A few months ago, a friend of mine had one and she was out of the rotation for the whole two weeks. After a month she was still complaining of uneasiness and pain around the chest and shoulder area. The scars will not disappear but will hardly be visible. She said her doctor prescribed her some topical medicines for the coloration of the scar.
In all, it wasn't doesn't easy. She was always complaining to me about the pain and all for a long time but in the end, she said it was worth it, seeing her new boobies. |

I wonder what crossed those women's minds to get implants that big. It's not only scary and disgusting, it's dangerous too. |

| Those are really crazy boobs! I could just imagine how their backs must hurt from walking. I mean, I'm a size C and I already complain about back aches from the weight of my bumpers. What more with those boobs?! |

| Wow, what a pain in the back to carry those things around!! I'm sure they're hard as a rock to. An alternative to breast implants is breast augementation through fat transfer. They take the fat from your butt/thighs/whereever and inject it into your breast. |

* Choose a well known clinic with good reputation.
* Collect as much information as you can on: The procedure, the clinic, and the surgeon.
* You must go for consultation before you have the breasts augmentation procedure to make sure it suits you. When you talk to the doctor make sure you give him all your health information.
* Although rare, know that breast enlargement surgery might cause some problems with breastfeeding.
* Breast implants do not last a lifetime, therefore there will be another surgery to replace or remove the implants.
* There might be ruptures in the implant, which are hard to detect, therefore the FDA determined that MRI test has to be made. The FDA recommends an MRI test 3 years after implantation and then every 2 years thereafter.
* You have to be over 17 to have the surgery, because that is the age when the breasts stop growing.
* Make sure the implants you choose with the doctor have the right proportion to your body.
* When touching the new breast it will feel almost like a natural breast. |

| Killie, are you sure about that? I don't want to put out any prejudice, but Bolivia?? Ok, you have a friend that has already done that, but still... I would double check the surgeon, etc... |
