Yes, it can cause some problems. Nevertheless, it is important that woman’s weight gain during pregnancy is minor (in 1. trimester few pounds, and in 2. and 3. trimester she should gain 1 pound every week, not more).
If already obese woman gains too much weight (or if healthy weight woman gains too much weigh) during pregnancy it could result in several potential problems like hight blood pressure, varicose veins, gestational diabetes, backaches, leg pain, fatigue, risk of Cesarean delivery, because the fetus might be larger than usual. Not to mention other inconvenience such as problems with hearing the heartbeat and measuring the size of the uterus or after delivery problems with stretch marks, etc. |
