Hello,
I have few Certain Dri questions. I read somewhere that Certain Dri is very strong anti perspirant that is prescribed by doctor when person is sweating abnormally. Does Certain Dri contain Aluminum Choloride? I got mail, where it was said not to use perspiration products that contain Aluminum Choloride, because they cause breast cancer. Is that true? I believe Certain Dri helps, but is the Aluminum Chloride the one to prevent excessice sweating? I read labeling now, and actually most sprays contain Aluminum Chloride… Is actually even safe to use sprays with Aluminum Chloride?
Thans in advance, Polona

Yes, I know about this problem- I got this mail too, and supposedly this is just a rumor.
Yes, all antipersprants contain Aluminum Chloride, which is there to prevent excessive sweating- it has drying effect and prevents odor. For that exact reason Aluminum is found in almost every deodorant-because it is most effective chemical ingredient to prevent sweating.
You should never apply deodorant with Aluminum Chloride to broken, irritated or recently shaved skin- not because is presents potential risk for breast cancer, but because it may cause itchiness or some skin irritation.
Anyway, health institutions report, also some studies were preformed, like in 2002, a study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute reports (on the basis of population-based case-control study), that there is no evidence that breast cancer could be caused by use of deodorants.
Now, as far as Certain Dri is concerned, well maybe it contains more Aluminum Chloride that ordinary deodorants do, because Certain dri effects last for 84 hours… which is definitely more than average, for that reason it must be used sparingly.
Hope this helps…
