Hey!
I am glad you are interested in making face cream products at home.
There is many options for herbs when preparing your own face cream products. If you want this face cream products for cleaning, it is best to use chamomile, parsley, fennel or linden. If you want to make cream that tighten you skin on face (do not if you have dry skin), than use lemon, mint, chamomile, sage, rose or raspberry. And if you want to stimulate and tighten pores, use elderberry flowers. If you want to increase circulation of blood on face, use rosemary.
Ok, when you decide what herb you’ll use, crush 1 oz. herb leaves or bruise 1 oz. flowers into 1 cup of water. Then pour mixture into ceramic or enamel pot and add one cup water and cover. Slowly (really slowly) put to boil. Be especially gentle if you are dealing with flowers. Flowers must boil very slowly. Best is to keep minimum fire all the time. Simmer 3 minutes, not more and them remove from heat and let it cold. Remove all leaves and flowers and store herb water in the refrigerator for one or two hours. Next thing you need to do is to melt 1 oz. lanolin and beeswax together using double boiler. Slowly stir in 3 or 4 oz. oil. Of course, you must use vegetable or fruit oil. Do not use olive oil, because it has too strong smell. In this case almond or avocado oils are of best benefit. Then remove from heat and mix in 1 oz. herb water (refrigerated) using a whisk.
One more thing, before applying on face it would be best to test an area of your skin for allergic reactions. |
