Hello!
Here are some of the more popular facelifts techniques. However it is very important to have a deep and careful examination with your surgeon to determine which facelifts is best suitable for you.
Mini facelift is a facelift with limited incisions. This facelift is best for patients with early signs of aging. Usually it is performed on patients in their 30s and 40s.
S-lift gets its name from s-shaped incisions in the hairline at the temple and in front of the ear. This facelift is also best for people that are starting to show signs of aging, also for patients in their 30s and 40s. Best is to improve mild jowling and minimal neck laxity.
Subcutaneous is a facelift that is used mostly for thin women with some excess skin but good position of the underlying muscles. This facelift does not work well for heavier jowls, sagging muscle, or for neck fullness.
Smas facelift repositions skin and the underlying muscle of the cheek to more adequately correct jowls and skin laxity.
Extended smas goes further towards nose to help correct lines around nose and mouth (crows feet).
Weekend facelift refers to facelift with very quick recovery time. Small incision is made and beneath the chin, excess fat is suctioned from the neck, ant then the inside of the skin is resurfaced with CO2 laser, which causes skin to contract. This procedure is performed with local anesthesia only.
Another facelift is feather lift, which can lift sagging underlying tissues. No skin is removed and no incisions are made, this is why this technique is not advised for people with excess skin.
Deep plane facelift is one among those appropriate for smokers, because of greater blood supply attached to the flap.
Composite facelift is actually deep plane facelift, with the addition of an extra step to include the muscle around the lower eyelid, which address changes in the upper cheek and mid-face region.
Sub-periosteal lift is one form of deep plane facelift. Subperiosteal lift repositions skin, fat, and muscle all at once: surgeon goes down to the bone, separating the bone from all of the tissues covering it. Surgery is done with endoscope for patient in their 30s and 40s who do not require skin removal. Then incisions are very small and hidden in the hair, while for patients requiring skin removal, standard incisions need to be made and surgery is done without endoscope.
Tumescent facelift is an facelift technique with is performed with tumescent anesthesia, and not general or local anesthesia. Consequently there is less bruising and swelling, less chance of nausea and vomiting, quicker recovery, less risk of anesthesia complications, ability to check nerve function during surgery. Patient is awake during surgery.
I hope this information on facelifts helps, though it is essential for you to talk things through with your surgeon.
Take care! |
