Organic symbolizes food that is grown without pesticides, fertilizers and other toxic substances. These products are also free of artificial colors and flavors. This term is not reserved for GMO. According to the Food and Drug Administration, in order for products to be considered organic, they must be free of all of the harmful substances for at least three years.
There are 3 standards for labeling, approved by FDA. 100% Organic means organic seal can be used only by products that exclusively contain organically produced ingredients. Products labeled "organic" must contain at least 95% organic ingredients. Products labeled ‘made with organic ingredients’ do not qualify to bear the USDA organic seal. However, they must contain at least 70% organic ingredients.
The best way to differentiate between truly organic skin care facial products and those that just claim to be so- is to carefully read the ingredient list on the product label. All skin care products must legally list their ingredients on their packaging, in descending order of their quantity in the product. This is the only safe way to determine whether facial skin care product is organic or not- do not just simply trust companies that claim to have organic facial skin care products.
