How do I get my hair to STAY straight?? I use flat irons, but I hate spending time time straighting and straighting again. Is there some more permanent solution???

What flat iorn do you use? The cheap one you can buy at Target do not work. I'm happy with my Chi ($80). I also like Garnier Fruictis Sleek & Shine. I use both the shampoo/conditioner and the serum.

My roommate has her hair perm. straightened. It's about $400 w/ touch-ups ($150) every 6 months.

Hi Jessica!
CHI is ceramic, right?
I don't use cemanic, i use cheap one, at least i think it was cheap - it looks cheap and doesn't say what brand Confused defenitely should use a better one!
I heard about permanent hair straightening- what is her hair like now? is it damaged?
I contacted cousin about getting my hair done, becasue she lives in a bigger city (and here is no saloon that does it in mine), she asked arund a bit, and found a saloon doing that- she checked up on them, and fund out the products they use def damage hair. she also wnated permanent straightening , but now she won't do it, at least in not in that saloon.

There is this Japanese straightening or called something like that… actually few procedures that may permanently straighten your hair. It is the procedure opposite of perm- you sit in saloon 5 or more hours, they apply tons of chemicals and flat iron your hair… after 5 hours of straighting the must stay straight!
I am not sure whether to recommend this or not- I haven’t done it my self, but I heard it can do damage to your hair, so I ma not sure whether this is a good idea.
Anyway, best thing to do at the moment is to visit few saloons in your area, and see whatthe y are doing and what’s the price for that. I know those prices vary from 100 to 500 dollars, and that it is better to chose the more expensive version as it supposedly damage hair less.
Also, try to get some recommendations about the procedure and the saloon from someone with positive experience – I think positive referrals work best in these sort of situations.

I recently had my hair permed straight. I went to the same stylist my roomie went to. She belongs to a salon, but for people who know her, she does it out of her home, so it was only $250. It took 5 hours!!! But I love it. My hair is very dry, and I can see some damage. (I did it about 2 months ago.)

Although, I'm happy I did it, I won't do it again. I did it b/c I'm about to take a long vacation and I don't want to worry about a flat iorn in different countries with different voltages. (I can't use my Chi in South America.)

The reason I don't like it is b/c of the damage and I like to style my hair in different ways. I feel locked into straightness with this Japanese Straightening.

with me only ironing helps me to get my hair straight. I've been ironing since ever ... 15 years or so... but it dries hair, and hair does not have the natural volume as natural straight hair does. i don't mind that, but do have more split ends and more dandruff (i think it's because of ironing) I use Dove silicone regenerator to minimize the damage of dry hair.
