Hello!
I have totally straight hair- not a single curl there… It is my dream, even since I was a child that I have curly hair--- I did something stupid because of that 5 years ago- I got my self a perm! It totally destroyed my hair and dry it out… I had to cut it… nothing else could be done.
Any way, if anyone is thinking about perm- forget it! All you’ll get are dry curls, and you don’t wanna have those?
So, my question, which I should of posted 5 years ago, is: how to achieve curly hair without a perm? |

Hey Amanda!
I am a hairstylist for 5 years (and planning to open my own saloon in near future…wish me luck).
Anyway, I noticed you conversation- you are totally right about curly people wanting to have straight hair and vice versa…
Anyway, how to achieve curly hair without perm- here are few options.
1. things like wash n curl are not best option, because they usually make sticky curls (if they make curls at all).
2. If deciding for a jelly or gel product, I suggest noodle head curling jell. Lots of my clients swears on it! Noodle head curling jell is best applied on wet hair- do not comb your hair after! It is one of the best curling jells, because it does not make dry hard curls, but they are really soft to the touch. It also smells nice. I recommend!
3. another option are curling irons- they are not the best solution, since they tend to dry hair, and eventually cause hair ends to split faster. In short, hot iron damages hair.
4. you could also buy diffuser for your hairdryer, and dry your hair with it, and also use special sprays. Anyway, after washing hair you should use wide tooth comb in order there are not tangles in hair. Then you put the diffuser onto your hairdryer, turn your head upside down and scrunch your hair till it's dry underneath and slightly damp on the outside. After that you should apply quality hold spray, that does not crunch your hair.
Anyway, for start try with noodle jelly- it is cheap, and worth trying!
Good luck, and I hope you achieve your dream curls!

This is funny - you know how some people with curly hair want to have straight hair- like me for example, and there, on the other side are you, with straight hair and wanting to have curly hair too bad we can’t switch I am sorry, I can tell you all about straightening irons, but not much about getting hair curly. |
