Hey there,
You’ll need 45 minutes and it is best if you do it once a week or even once in two weeks. Best time is before bed time, since then you certainly will not get into water with your hands and nails.
Ok, this is what you need to do.
First wash your hands and dry them. Then using a double sided emery board, file nails using a gentle stroke. If not double sided, file only in one direction. Avoid filling nail corners since this can weaken them.
With filling nails, you also shape them. Most popular shapes are oval and round, French cornered manicure is not popular any more. Then you need to check how well you did the job- of nail do not snag clothes, you did a good job, otherwise file some more.
Next thing is applying softener to your cuticles, which should site for minute or two, then transfer hands to a bowl of warm water and soak for an additional few minutes. Warm water will soften cuticles, so they will be easier to push them back. This should not be painful! So, be very gentle! If hangnails are present, carefully clip them off.
Apply hand lotion and begin to massage the palm of your hand with the thumb of your other hand. This will help to circulate the blood.
Before you apply color to nails, you must clean them and the easiest way to do this is to use an orange stick that has been wrapped with cotton. Dip into nail polish remover and then rub over the surface of the nail. First apply basic layer. At least two layers! And then is time for coloring. If not applying color, your nail should be always covered with base coat. Always! This is for nail protection.
When applying layer, it is important to wait until polish is dry to the touch. Only then you should apply the top coat. Don't skip this step as it not only adds life to your manicure, it will protect your nails as well.
I hope this will help and you’ll enjoy you manicures.
