A question about microdermabrasion. My son is 23, and had acne in past. The situation with acne is much better now, but he was left with acne scars.
He is applying some topical creams against acne scars, but they do not help much. I was thinking about microdermabrasion? I read somewhere microdermabrasion helps dealing with acne scars.
Could someone tell me, if that is true? Is one treatment enough? How much does microdermabrasion costs? |

Microdermabrasion is effective in reducing acne scars. Microdermabrasion namely with gentle abrasion removes upper skin layer, and stimulates the production of skin cells and collagen.
Number of treatments should definitely be determined by your son’s doctor, but so far I can tell for sure there will be more than 1 treatment- usually there are between 5 and 10 treatments, sometimes more, sometimes less. Each treatment takes about 30 minutes, and afterwards skin reacts with slight redness, which calms in few following days. Treatment are usually spaced from 2 to 3 weeks apart.
The price for microdermabrasion usually ranges from of $250-$400 per session.
Anyway, price is also determined by doctor, as the treatment for optimum results is. Microdermabrasion can, for example, be combined with other treatments, like chemical peels or other. |
