I have very thick and wavy hair. When I blow dry it looks ok, but I was told it is better not to use blow dryers and to let air dry. If I do that my hair looks like a HUGE FRIZZY MESS. I like my curls, and they are well defined when blow dry. What can I do about this blow drying in order to still be healthy for hair?
Also, I need advise for straightening super thick, wavy hair. Is it healthy for hair to use flat iron? What about those permanent straighteres? |

It is perfectly fine if blow dry your hair, just do not get too close to your hair- blow dry at least 10 inches away from hair, and turn down the heat on blow dryer to minimus, which means blow dry with not too hot air. If blowing dry with hot air and too close to the head, this tends to damage hair- dry it and causing split ends. Otherwise blowdrying is perfectly healthy for hair.
If planning to buy flat iron, it is better to invest few dollars more than to buy the cheapest. The cheap one will probably stop working after a while, also the cheapest aren’t the ceramic ones, and you should get a ceramic one for certainly.
About permamnet straightening- they put chemicals on, and some methods damage and I mean damage obviously your hair. As you said yourself, you like your culrs- so, why straighten them permanently? |
