You're right- folic acid before and during first pregnency month helps protect your baby. True, folic acid is found in green vegetables, but it is also quickly destroyed with cooking. Thus steam vegetables or eat them fresh if possible.
It is important to eat as healhty as possible. Try eating more vegetables and fruits, esp. rich in C-vitamin. You should include in your daily nutrition five or more servings of grains and starches, including at least three whole grains. Include lean proteins, but limit fish consumption to once or twice a week. Include calcium rich foods in your daily nutrition. Avoid trans fats, but do include vegetable fats, like olive oil or some other vegetable oil.
Basically, nutrition before pregnencie is healthy nutrition, which should be followed if pregnant or not.
If you plan to take any vitamin supplements, ask your doctor for advice. |
