In ayurveda mango is considered to be highly valued. Also pomegranate, apple, pear, watermelon, grapes, bananas…
I am not that much into ayurveda, but during studying I was reading some about it. According to ayurveda, fruits are best eaten in the morning- this is the time when you’ll get the maximum nourishment from fruit and should be eaten first thing in the morning- before breakfast.
I also read some studies of western medicine, that claim fruits should be eaten in the morning (or during the day) and certainly not at the evening, because then they create hunger and they easier transform into fat! So, to your knowledge- no fruits in the evening!
So, fruits in the morning, as ayurveda says, especially fresh, because they enhance immunity, happiness and strength. Fruits are also valued for their ability to cleanse the body of toxins.
Ayurveda suggests that we eat fruits that are available in particular season- when fruit are ripe and eaten in the proper season and climate, they are pure nectar; if fruits are artificially ripened, then they loose some of its nutritive value.
I really can’t think of any disadvantage, except the economic ones- they are expensive considering the amount of calorie they offer. They are especially expensive when not in season and hard to find, anyhow ayurveda suggests eating season fruits. |
