Are you sure you can wear white? Or are you one of those who think white looks terrible on them? Don’t be hasty! The answer is actually not so easy. It is not because of you, it has something to do with WHITE. White color is truly a special case. Did you know Eskimos distinguish more than 20 types of white? No wonder! They are surrendered with nothing but white. But still some white colors they still haven’t seen…
We recognize numerous white shades. For example porcelain-white is different than enamel white, and lily-white is different than the color of white rose. Even the simplest ‘white colors’ confuse us when we begin to observe them. For example: flowery white. Is that daisy white or is it lily white with gentle blue tones? Even when we say ‘as white as snow’ we might have numerous types of snow colors on mind.
White color is true phenomena, full with symbolism. White is allegory of innocence, purity, as well as parable for perfection and brightness. No wonder many women love white. White simply sends a massage of attractiveness, temptation and freshness. With white everything looks pleasant, bright and tasty. Nevertheless, white can produce opposite effect: it can look dull, boring or even sloppy. All that matters is who and what white color is wearing.
It is important to distinguish cold and warm tones
Among numerous white (and other colors), we recognize 2 main groups: cold and warm white shades.
Cold is for example ‘clean’ white, as we find it on office paper or on hospital walls. Cold white is also white with grayish tones and the one with the blue shades as the color of porcelain. On the other side, warm white colors represent creamy white, white with yellow overtones, wool white, white with dull colors of egg-shell and white as elephant bone.
If you cannot decide whether certain piece of clothing is warm white or cool white, place it next to piece of office paper. Does paper make it look warmer and yellowish? Or does it achieve gray and cold effect?
Those who recognize warm and cold white colors do not have problems choosing right white blouse. Of course there are some rules to follow. People who generally should wear colder colors should choose white in colder shades (summer and winter type), and vice versa ones who look good in warmer colors should wear warm white shades.
It is also important to pay attention to body contrasts: woman with extremely white skin will look dull in white and often even paler than she really is, no matter what white- white in warm or cold shades, she’s wearing. For her it would be best to choose among pastel colors.
Women that get strong brown color (as some spring types), or have naturally brownish tan (like some autumn types), often want to bring out their tan by simply contrasting with shiny cold white. Unfortunately they achieve the opposite effect: their skin looks like leather or even gets black shades. White does not emphasize their golden brown skin as expected.
If you are not sure, it is always best to decide for wool white. Wool white is the only white tone that looks good on every woman. It is soft, slightly outshined, has warm effect, but not yellow undertones. Since this color is popular almost every winter, it is in fashion slang identified as winter white.
Generally: only winter type person looks great in clean cold white; spring type looks best with wool white; summer types should wear cold milky white colors and autumn type person yellowish creamy white.
