All substances are found in nature, for that reason eat more fruit and vegetables, and forget about multivitamin pills, at least for now, when nature is giving you its fruits. When you are spending time outdoors, eat more fruits and vegetables than usual- eat mostly foods that are high in vitamin C and A, because they are best anti-oxidants and they will protect your skin against UV radiation and aging. Spend time on sun in the morning, but not more than 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the skin type. You should increase consumption of food, such as melon, watermelon, spinach and tomato, because they contain beta carotene. Increased intake of vitamins A, C, E and selenium is also recommended, because they are considered strong neutralizers of initial skin changes and skin tumor damages. Selenium Decreases Cancer Risk
Selenium is mineral that protects from unhealthy free radical influence. Low selenium level and concentration increases cancer risk. Selenium was discovered in 1817, name origins from Greek word, and in translation means moon. Selenium reserves in organism are found in selenium-protein form. It is mostly accumulated in erythrocytes (red blood cells), milt, liver, teeth, testicles and sperm. Selenium is important for relieving oxidative stress; it also influences immune system: it is proved it increases anti-oxidative vitamin A and E functioning. Selenium has capability of changing metabolism of some toxic minerals, which results in their lower toxicity. Selenium needs depend on few factors: for example, smokers need more selenium than nonsmokers, the same goes for people living close to industrial zones or being exposed to heavy metals. For that reason daily selenium dose varies from 25 to 200 mcg. Herbs are main selenium source, but its amount depends on the ground, herb is growing. Recommended daily intake of selenium for healthy and grown woman is approximately 55 mg, while for man, this amount is little bit higher, which 70 mcg. However, higher amounts than recommended are unhealthy for organism, even toxic. The only resource to balanced amount of chemical element in organism is regular and balanced nutrition: eat food that contains plenty minerals. Among quality nutrition, that satisfies criteria, are mushrooms, grains, and green leafy vegetables, such as cabbage. If possible, avoid herbs that are grown with bigger amounts of artificial sulfur-full fertilizers. Sulfur is, because belonging to the same group of chemical elements as selenium, selenium’s competitor. Instead of absorbing selenium herb takes in sulfur. For that reason, herbs grown this way contain bigger amount of sulfur.
Vitamin D Elevates Immunity Study from Californian University in San Diego has showed that women with higher levels of vitamin D have 50% lower risk of getting breast cancer. Even slightly increased vitamin D amount is connected with 10% lower cancer risk. This fact was proved in a research, where more than 120.000 people took part. Vitamin d is produced in body after being exposed to sun light. Increased amount of vitamin D is especially recommended to older people. Scientist forewarn that excessive sun exposure has negative effect for health, and that too high vitamin D levels can bring to dangerous increasing of calcium levels.
