Unhealthy life style can often have harmful consequences on functions of vital organs, and it can be also negatively expressed on mental level.
There are only few people that don’t experience at least one stress daily- seems harmless, but on the long run nerves tend to break easier. Consequences of stress exposure are different kinds of depression, panic and fear attacks, as well as high pressure and diabetes and even carcinoma. Stress is impossible to avoid, for that reason try to lessen its symptoms: do not use pills and similar substances. Instead, get rid of it naturally. Find out what herbs eliminate stress and tension.
How to avoid stress?
You can avoid stress to some degree, but of course it is impossible to avoid it all the way. However, if you want to bring stressful situations down to minimum, you should balance your life, eat regularly and healthy, exercise and relax often enough. However, if you find yourself in stressful situation (no one can avoid that!), do not reach for medicines that will calm you down. This time decide for something different: try what nature gives you, try herbs, which are often as efficient as medicines against stress. When you want to calm down, use valerian, hops and thyme.
1. Thyme (Thymus serpullum) Experienced herbalists advise not to pluck thyme, but to cut it with knife. Thyme’s most beneficial part is only upper part of plant: leaves, flowers and green parts of the plant. Roots are not used. Thyme relieves problems in many diseases and relaxes nerves in stressful situations.
Recipe: Cover one spoon of thyme with 4 deciliters boiling water. Remove from fire and leave 15 minutes; then filtrate. You can add honey, the taste is also better if you add few drops of lemon juice. Drink sip by sip during the day.
2. Hops (Humulus lupulus)
The entire plant is beneficial, but the most potent are seeds. Hops stimulates appetite, strengthens stomach and intestine. This plant is a true gift from nature for all insomniacs, especially if insomnia results as a consequence of stressful situation. Hops relive psychological tension and all kinds of depressions. Recipe: Cover 1 teaspoon of hops with 2 deciliters boiling water, remove from fire and leave 15 minutes. Filtrate and drink whenever necessary, but not as permanent sedative.
3. Valerian (Valeriana oficinalis)
Valerian needs lots of moisture, for that reason we can find it near rivers and similar humid areas. Healing part of the plant is the root. It can be used to fight nervousness, hysteria and other diseases, and it also helps women in climax.
Recipe: Do not cook valerian, because it will loose its beneficial features. Cover one spoon valerian with 2 deciliters cold water and leave it ‘soak’ for 10 hours. Drink in small amounts (one teaspoon) 6 times daily. If you drink this tea regularly, you should after 2 or 3 weeks of this treatment, make one week pause, and then again continue with treatment.
People show stress in many different ways: some are nervous and tense, while other fall into depression and similar states. If you are a part of group that expresses stress with nervousness and tension, you should use basil, onion or hawthorn.
Bath against stress
Cook 3 hands full hawthorn in 2 liters water. When bring to boil, remove from fire and leave it one hour and then filtrate. Fill bath with 1 liter hawthorn water and then relax in the smell of hawthorn for 10 minutes. The remaining liter of hawthorn water can be used for another bath. However, best effect can be achieved if you relax in this bath twice daily.
Tea mixtures that will make you forget all your problems
Cover 2 spoons of basil, lemon balm and valerian herbal mixture with half liter boiling water. Remove from fire and leave it 10 minutes. Afterwards filtrate and drink 1 cup of tea 3 times daily.
Cover 5 spoons of basil, lavender, lemon balm and celery with 1 liter boiling water. Remove from fire and filtrate after 5 minutes. Drink one cup of this tea every 2 hours.
Cover 2 spoons of basil leaves and flowers with half liter boiling water. Remove from fire and filtrate after 15 minutes. Drink 2 to 3 cups daily.
Cover 1 spoon of hawthorn flowers with half liter boiling water. Drink 1 cup three times daily. Chop 2 medium onions on slices and put in 1 liter boiling water. Drink this tea as much as possible for the following 4 days.
