Hello to everyone on forum!
I have a question about acne pitting! My boyfriend had acne when he was a teenager and in his early 20ties, and now he is left with acne pitting. We bought some creams for treating acne pitting, but none of them really helped.
What do you suggest- what are possible and perhaps most effective treatment for acne pitting?
We greatly appreciate every response! |

Hi Jolly!
Creams do not help! So, don’t buy them no more, you will just unnecessary spend your money. I suggest he visits dermatologist or even a plastic surgeon to examine your boyfriend’s condition and type of scarring- if he has deep scarring, more ‘invasive’ treatment will be needed.
Anyway, treatments for acne pitting, that are available and effective are the following:
Microdermabrasion, Lasers, resurfacing with lasers, injections of collagen (or other substances).
If he has deep acne pitting most appropriate would be microsurgery.
But as I said, it is hard to say what would be best treatment for his acne pitting- doctor must make an evaluation of his skin type, as well as extend and depth of his scars. On this way doctor can prescribe very personalized plan.
Microdermabrasion can reduce more superficial scars, while scars that are deeper do not respond well to that treatment. For deeper scarring lasers are most appropriate. Results of these treatments are permanents, while with collagen injections quick and simple intervention must be repeated every 4 to 12 months for increasingly durable results.
Make an appointment with doctor to give you more detailed information.

it is best if he makes an appointment with dermatologist. I think possible treatments to reduce appearance of acne pitting are either microdermabrasion or perhaps laser resurfacing. I haven't undergone neither of them, so i can't really tell from experience.
he should contact dermatologist, as Soffie said. |
