There are 3 main groups of plastic surgery of clitoris: first is clitorectomy or clitoral amputation, second type is clitoral recession, and third type is clitoral reduction.
Let me first describe clitorectomy or clitoral amputation. This operation simply removes all that can be seen of the clitoris, as well as all the glands of clitoris. Usually also involves parietal removal of the corpora. This plastic surgery is rarely done in US.
Second type is clitoral recession, which means clitoral structures are dissected out and then folded up and moved in their entirety, backwards under the symphysis pubis. This means no clitoral structures are being removed, and the clitoral nerves maintain their connection to the clitoral glans. Since this procedure causes pain, it is presumed procedure is less often.
Third procedure, clitoral reduction, stands for preservation of glands clitoris. The corpora are dissected and partially or totally removed. Most procedures today are done this way, and maintain connection between clitoral nerves and clitoral glands, though sometimes later are reduced in size. |
