It is proven that younger people need more hours for sleeping then older. For example babies need 10 hours, and this decreases when we get older.
But, your problem is def not to be avoid... if you cannot asleep and you wake up tired bacause of that. There are some tips how to improve sleeping.
For example, you could take a relaxing bath before sleeping and add into tub some esotheric oils like camomila.
You should wear bright colors, best is white, for sleeping, from silk or cotton.
Room has to have fersh air, air needs to be humid and most appropriate temperature is around 16-18 degrees C. If room is too bright you should darken it. Room shouldn't be noisy- no street windows recomended.
Do not read or watch horrors before bed time.
Do not sleep during the day.
Some people think it is best if you go to bed before midnight, again others claim this doesn't matter and that most important are first 4 hours of sleep.
Try to adjust your body to regular timing- you should respect this timing also during weekend.
If you are sensitive to coffeine, try to avoid it in the afternoon.
It is also proven that more than 25 cigarettes a day interferes sleeping.
Do not exercise before bed time, but do have sex. It is proven that people whi have sex once a week do not sleep as well as those having it more regular.
Take an easy walk before bed time.
Do not eat before bed time- especially fat food may disturb your stomach- this goes also if you've eaten chocolate 3 hours before bed time.
Do not drink alcohol at least 6 hours before bed time.
If you still cannot sleep, get up, drink camomilla tea or read something easy... the body will become sleepy by itself.
Do you have comfortable and quality bed?

Rub jojoba oil into feet and then put cotton socks on.
Jojoba oil works very relaxing, especially if you massage the right accupressing points on your feet.
