My son 1, 5 year old and he is still breastfeeding several times daily. At what age should I quit breastfeed? My friends quit breastfeed maximum up to 1 year, some even less.
My mother says i should stop, but i don't know what would be the best method for quitting breastfeeding? Any suggestions? My mother says in her times they applied pepper or spicy paprika on nipples, which would feel horrible to the baby, so baby wouldn't want to breastfeed no more. However, this seems a bit harsh method to me. Any other suggestions?? |

I was breastfeeding my child up to 2 and a half years! I talked to all possible professionals (and we have few in family) and they told me breastfeeding up to 3 years (!!!) does not harm the baby, neither emotionally nor physically, so it is not abnormal to breastfeed at that age. Just because your friends didn't breastfed past 6 months, that doesn't mean their way was the right way.
I agree on the method- it is a cruel one. |

| My mother breastfed my brother up to 1, 5 year or something like that. Then she applied bandages over her nipples and told him it's a awie for mommy. At first he was crying and whole family didn't sleep much. But after those unhappy few days, he came to understand he can't breastfeed. At first every time he wanted to, he went to her, and looked whether she still has bandages, and when he saw them, he took his bottle and was alright. |
