It is true that it bleaches hair, and not only hair, but also fabric, but Benzoyl peroxide is one of the most common used skin acne products. It is available in prescription and over-the-counter medications in few forms: as wash form, gel, even cream; and in few concentrated solutions.
It is not too strong for skin. I mean it is if you don't use it sparingly, but as far as we studied it - only 3% of people are allergic to Benzoyl peroxide, which means that they will get inflammation of the skin after using it. And if you are among those 3% you will know very quickly. Although there might be some dry skin or peeling, but this is not considered as allergic reaction.
Benzoyl peroxide as skin acne product very rarely causes any problems (if used as instructed), but it does kills bacteria that causes acne, which means it prevents further breakouts and 'dries' acne that have already appeared, which works as treatment, or you can wait few days and they will dry out by themselves. |
