My mother’s skin is very oily (luckily I do not have this problem). We’ve tried many creams, but nothing helps her really, so we’re going nature. I have couple of questions, I want to ask.
What essential oils should be used in case when having oily skin.
What herbs can be used when having oily skin. One more- can she make a tea from these herbs and then apply it on skin like a lotion for oily skin?
Thank you very much!

Hello Tricia,
Yes, actually she can make herself a tea and then apply it, though some herbs (for example chamomile) tend to dry skin out too much (even if having oily skin), so after applying on skin and if feeling skin is drying out, immediately wash away with warm water. It is best to take a test first on inner side of a hand.
Herbs that are good for oily skin are: aloe vera with great healing properties, burdock root, chamomile, horsetail, oat straw, and thyme; lavender is appropriate for all skin types, and works very distressful. If planning to wash face with ‘teas’, use lemongrass, licorice root, and rosebuds, but don’t have to do it more than twice or three times a week.
Witch hazel applied to the skin is excellent for absorbing oil.
Essential oils good for oily skin are: bergamot, cedarwood, cypress, frankincense, geranium, juniper, lavender, lemon and sage.
