I think even doctors are not sure how to get rid of stretchmarks and what would the best treatments be.
First thing you should know, do not buy over-the-counter lotions or cream that are suppose to remove stretchmarks. They will not! You'll be just angry (like me) for spending money on nothing. Creams just do not help. Why? Because stretch marks occur in the middle layer of the skin and creams can't reach that far deep- simply because of that.
Most often creams with vitamin E are advertised to help dealing with stretch marks... vitamin E is beneficial for skin and will probably soften skin, but it will not make you stretchmarks go away!
On the other hand, there is a cream on market, which is called Retin-A and contains Tretinoin. This cream helps dealing with fresh (reddish) stretchmarks, it will not work on older stretch marks. Though you should not use this cream if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you consider this problem troubleing... try talking with plastic surgeon and see what can be done. I think laser surgeries are used in this cases.
However, be aware that all people (even my husband) has stretchmarks and remember all new, red stretchmarks may seem awful at the moment, but when they fade in color, they are not so much visible.
Take care! |
