Histological, there are 4 types of wrinkles.
Atrophic wrinkles occur when skin get thin, because it looses collagen and elastic fibers.
Elastotic wrinkles occur as consequence of changes in skin. They appear because of chronic exposure to UV lights, for example sun or solarium. These wrinkles are stable and have typical criss-cross pattern.
Wrinkles caused by gravitation effects are called gravitation or dangling wrinkles. Besides gravitation they are connected to loss of collagen.
Forth type is called mimic or dynamic wrinkles. They are caused by constant moving and are not connected to age. If you do not smoke, you will probably never have wrinkles around your mouth, unless you have mimic which uses lots of mouth moving. And if you do not pucker your forehead while thinking or worrying, you will probably never have wrinkles. These wrinkles are very much connected to facial expressions and those wrinkles can tell a lot about somebody’s character. |
