| Some people say that vaseline can be used for wrinkles. Could this be true? What qualities does vaseline have that would make it an effective aid in the struggle against these signs of age? |

Countering the many skin care products specially designed to fight wrinkles are the various beauty tips and tricks handed down from generation to generation. All these come in form of somebody’s grandmother’s advice which, if followed, guarantees success. Among these is the recommended use of Vaseline for wrinkles.
Unfortunately, though there is no definite answer to this question, the disadvantages of such usage of Vaseline seem to exceed the advantages.
Although Vaseline is a strong moisturizer that can lock moisture in the skin and make it smoother and softer, there are no real indications that it can actually prevent or fight wrinkles. At the same time, it blocks your pores, so you run the risk of having pimples break out all over your face if you leave it for too long.
Other disadvantages include oily face and an unpleasant smell. Since Vaseline does not actually penetrate pores, but rather stays on the skin, it leaves your face quite shiny and greasy. As there is no fragrance to it, its odour can turn its usage into a rather disagreeable experience.
Finally, there are some suggestions that Vaseline, being in fact petroleum jelly, might actually be toxic for humans.
There are various ways to fight wrinkles, and some are more effective than others. With all this in mind, you might want to avoid the ones that could harm you. |

I think vaseline is one of the worst things you could use on your skin. There are so many things out there. I will not use anything on my skin that I cannot pronounce. My girlfriends and I use this as a rule.
A friend of mine uses vitamin E (oil) and I use emu oil. I tried the vitamin E but it didn't seem to soak into my skin as well. The emu did in a short time and my lines went away. It can be expensive but I found it online for a great price. I can tell you where I got it if you want. Let me know. |
