Brother has problems with whiteheads. They appear mostly on chin, and forehead-near scalp. We tried few face cleansers, and they didn't really help. He is not squeezing them, which is alright, but also wants to get rid of them, which i understand.
What whiteheads skin care would you recommend? He is cleaning his face/ morning, evening, both times with cleanser (don't know which one he uses now). Is there anything else we can do considering skin care and improving his condition with whiteheads?
Thanks for your help! |

Well, these things take time- most treatments for skin conditions take several months before any change is seen.
He should also choose right cleanser depending on the type of his skin. |

| Is he wearing hats or anything that could cause whiteheads nera his scalp. My friend also has acne right under scalp line, but her hair covers most of her forehead not allowing her skin there to 'breathe'. Maybe this is also the case with your brother. |

All that's true, but there are several other things he can do for whiteheads skin care.
I suggest he sticks with cleansers (appropriate for skin type), because they are really good for cleaning dirt and excess oil from skin. But tell him not to exaggerate- once daily is enough.
He could try using Benzoyl peroxide (after cleanser) – it has antibacterial effect and reduces the clogged pores, also helps prevent formation of further whiteheads.
Another option is Retin-A, which can be more irritating than Benzoyl peroxide- which is more superficial. Retin-A or Tretinoin works by increasing expulsion of the plugged material and converts closed comedones into open comedones- which can be easier removed. Retin has some side effects, like flaking, and it should be used for at least 3 months to see any results. Some see it after 6 months, some after a year.
I would recommend him to visit dermatologist, and see what (s)he has to say about his condition. |
